The Ultimate Halloween Candy Survival Guide

Happy Halloween! You and your kids can enjoy the treats while protecting those teeth. Follow our simple guide for a healthier smile:

Choose Wisely: Not all candy is created equal. Chocolate (especially dark) is a better choice as it melts quickly and is easier to brush away. Sticky candies (gummies, caramels) and hard candies (suckers) are the real villains, as they bathe teeth in sugar for a long time, increasing cavity risk.

Timing is Everything: Enjoy candy with or shortly after a meal. The increased saliva flow during meals helps neutralize acids and wash away food particles.

Hydrate with Water: Drink plenty of water after eating candy to help rinse off sugar.

Don’t Skip the Brush: Always brush teeth thoroughly about 30-60 minutes after enjoying sweets.
